Butterflies in Stomach

Go on. Ask her how her weekend was.

No effing way! We have not even said hello yet and you want me to ask her about the weekend?

What best way to break the ice then? Just staring at her till she catches your eye and then awkwardly waving at her?

I have got blogs to work on. So much work’s pending and..

Bullshit. You are trying to divert from the topic at hand.

Alright, I will try.

Minutes pass by.

DING! *Elevator door opens and she steps in.

Those were the voices arguing inside me while I was acting as if I was working on something important. The moment she stepped into the elevator and the door’s closed, only then I remembered how to breathe.

Way to go. Team Awkward!‘ one voice muttered.

This funny yet strangely exciting feeling in the pit of my stomach made me take a step back and realise something important. This has happened to me before, and quite a few number of times, frankly speaking.

Do you remember the butterflies you get in your stomach when you see someone and you cannot define what they mean to you? Even a glimpse of them is enough or a quick eye-contact is all that’s needed to make your day good.  Or you might hit the jackpot and get that one sweet smile which can lighten up the senses like Christmas!

It’s funny how you can have a strong and charming personality around anybody except that one person. Its as if the every ‘Awkward’ genes come together and halts your basic motor functions. And what’s more funny is this happens every time someone special comes close to your orbit. I am curious how this ‘Awkward’ genes decide when to wake up from the slumber and help act weird in front of that someone.

As Deadpool (one of my favourite characters) said, “I’m just a boy, about to stand in front of a girl, and tell her…WHAT THE FUCK I’M GOING TO TELL HER?

Wish me luck!

The Time I Got Caught Watching Porn!

The operation “breathing.exe” has stopped working. Please restart the system.

The message flashed.

Before you go any further, let me make it clear there was no porn involved (well, technically it was porn!) in the experience I am going to share. I apologise for misleading you and getting your hopes up. Nevertheless, I will let you decide if this experience of mine is worthy of your time.

I am sure you just came here on the basis of a single word. In many circles and societies it is considered a grave sin but here you are: reading, judging and most importantly, silently agreeing  with the words  I have written down. The pull of porn is very addictive and no matter what, I know the curiosity got the better of you.

Did it ever happen to you that there’s a day no matter how much you try to be cheerful but life comes down like a Muhammad Ali and knocks the hell down. Yup, my day was something on the same lines. When I got a moment alone from all the work load, all I wanted to do was chill, groove to some music and get some work done. But the day was not in my favour. I opted to shift all those ‘To-do’ list and started watching some science-stuff videos about ‘Face Recognition’.  The website warned me that it was some kind of ‘Phishing Site‘ but I clicked anyway.

Yea, I like to live dangerously!

So, here I was enjoying my solitude and suddenly my boss pokes her head. She needed me to edit some document which I had previously worked on. If you been skimming till here, then pay attention now. The story starts here. As she came near, I sort of panicked because I was supposed to be working and not watching some sciencey-stuff. So being me, I did the logical thing. I tried to close the window, unsuccessfully. And in that process, a window popped up with some graphic details on *cough* related to a porn site.

I froze. My boss froze. And then, all hells broke loose.

The operation “breathing.exe” has stopped working. Please restart the system.

This message flashed somewhere in my brain. You know there comes a moment, a very embarrassing one where you wish dinosaurs were still alive and you can whistle and it will come roaring and gobble you up? Oh how I wished at that moment the dinosaurs were not extinct. My boss was running, screaming and I was pretty sure, telling every person in our team about this awesome moment. And here I was, trying to figure out how to breathe.

The moment I got my bearings back, all I could do was stick to one rule: No Eye Contact!

Yup, I resuscitated myself and got back to work, still wishing maybe an eagle can snatch me or cover myself in Harry Potter’s Invisibility Cloak. A colleague of mine said not to think about this. But the more I tried, the more I realised the society’s double standards. Every single one of us what porn is all about and yet when seen on public, acts as if its a big deal. A grave sin committed which can never make anything right ever again. Sure, making fun is one thing but humiliating them is very different. Thankfully, I was spared of the latter part. Still, I think its completely normal if some website redirects you in front of whole work team. Browsing porn is one thing, being addicted is another. Even though it was just a pop-up ad, it was quite a surreal experience.

Did you guys ever had such an experience? Just let me know that I am not alone here and maybe someday we will laugh together on our crazy experiences.

Something New Under The Sun

Hello all you beautiful readers and bloggers!

First of all, I need to apologise for not posting anything new (or old for that matter). Your’s truly have been a little busy creating something new. It took a little time, a little hard-work and some amount of dedication to get it into fruition. Today, I am very proud to announce that I have successfully (maybe, well who cares?) helped to start a new blog page.

It has something which every reader would like to read about. The one who has a ton of work yet chooses to read and that too, something entirely different. Yes, I am pointing at you! There are few topics to get your juices up and running. Worry not, I will get back here to post some of my adventures pretty soon. But till you wait, you can enjoy beautiful things written by your’s truly!

So without further ado, check out the project I have been working on and do let me know what you think about it:

Pursuing Rajdhani

Mumbai Central Rajdhani.jpg

The mood was cheerful as the sun shined brightly in the morning. Everything was going on smoothly till we missed our pre-planned local train from Dombivli. As the train raced away from the sights, our heart sank. Our brains started the worst-case scenario’s Powerpoint presentation. If this local train was lost, then it meant we would lose the changing local train from Dadar Junction, which was supposed to get us to Mumbai Central. This in turn, meant we would eventually lose the Rajdhani. All the hours of planning and deciding which places to visit on our first trip to Delhi was going down the drain.

The mood was tense as we caught a slow train from Dombivli. This was going to take us a complete hour to reach Dadar. Calculating possible and easier routes was how we tried to keep the negative thoughts at bay. Each and every route’s time to reach was very crucial. Picturing every outcome of all the possible routes was how we kept ourselves engrossed. Even the sound of laughter had an undertone of nervousness.

As our local train halted at Dadar,we leapt and ran like the hellhounds were chasing us. Yelling and screaming, we zigzagged through the crowd. This heroic efforts led us to get the other local train for Mumbai Central at the last second. Calming our heartbeats, which sounded as if someone was beating the drums, we waited to see if our efforts were going to pay off.

But we were not out of the woods yet! As we were reaching our destined train, a Ticket Checker made us freeze to the ground. Remember the antics at Dadar of running and screaming? Well, we had forgotten to get local tickets in all that hustle! We took leave from him with less money in our pockets. We ran to the platform, panting. And lo and behold! There was our train, standing in all glory. And strangely, the Powerpoint presentation ended abruptly. Within few minutes of getting in the Rajdhani, the train started chugging away from the platform.

The mood was relaxed. Outside, the evening had a pleasant warmth with acres of greenery as far as the eye can see. We had finally made it through all the hurdles. Everything was alright now.

Remembering the Journey

I am sitting at my workplace in Bandra, admiring the skyline view while Zoe Johnston is speaking about the peace of mind. This skyline is the kind where the sky is covered with broad strokes of shades of orange and red while there are small specks of lights from the buildings below it.

Just a few more hours to usher in the New Year and I can sense the excitement in people around me! There’s a gleam of happiness in the eyes as if something beautiful is about to happen. Somehow this makes me happy to see that others are in that festive spirit.

As for your’s truly, this was a year of absolute fun sprinkled with few doses of heartbreaks. Looking back at it, I believe this was one of the best year, ever. Period. As someone said, ‘Best friends make the good times better and hard times easier.‘ Its certainly truly for me. The crazy times with some of the best pals is literally the fundamental factor for this year’s cruising so swiftly.

I think this is enough to post about the last night of 2015 because there are so many memories that if written down, can become short stories of its own!

As Hemingway said, ‘It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.

Small Moments

The inception of music concerts has been a blessing in this messed up world of today. It’s something which takes one to a place where there is nothing but absolute bliss. A place where none of the everyday problems clings to you. At least that’s what I feel about music gigs.

A couple of days back, one of my personal favourite U.K. group of trio  named ‘Above & Beyond’ had been to my city on a  mini tour.  This group is…let’s just say, simply incredible at the music they create! Sadly, I never got a chance in the past to attend a live concert of theirs. So the moment I received the news of them performing at Mumbai, I don’t think I have ever booked tickets at such a swift pace for any event as I did for theirs!

And the waiting game began. Day-dreaming about the event, imagining the tracks which will be played at the venue and keeping an eye out on social media pages for any new updates was a favourite pastime.

Since the group was close to heart, your’s truly had planned for posting twitter requests for tracks to play and getting few clicks for creating new memories. Suffice to say, planning was done to the detail and was counting down the days.

And then Above & Beyond happened!

The moment they took the sage with a ‘Hello’, confetti and the crowd’s roar reached sky high! Giddy with excitement, we cheered on top-of-our-lungs when they started belting hits after hits of their amazing soundtracks. We literally went above and beyond of this earth’s dimension.

Those 2 hours of non-stop music and dance engulfed people with just pure pleasure. Nothing else mattered as we were experiencing something too beautiful to put it into words here. The cheering of crowds, the grooving to tracks and to see happiness in everyone’s eyes was so emotionally powerful that I can never get over anytime soon.

As the world slowly returned to Earth from their music, I couldn’t help but remember the lines from one of their songs…

Time held its breath
A motionless spell of rapture
Across the room
A memory had been captured

89de9c01dd46b0186a7d2eaa67fe5749Have you ever stopped dead on tracks of whatever you were doing and wondered aloud, ‘How did I end up here?’ or ‘Where did the time go?’ Trying to piece together the moments we lost when we were busy focusing on trivial things and completely forgetting the important ones.

Yes, life is a journey but most of the time it feels like we are just programmed to pursue and meet the demands of the comfortable lifestyle we dream of. In the pursuit of something better, we overlook the current good times we usually have. This yearning for better is quite good but somewhere in this daily struggle for improvement, we tend to lose the focus on what really matters at the present.

Remember the time when you actually enjoyed the feeling of warm sun on your face, the smell of earth while raining or a cool breeze hitting you? Those times when the summer was incomplete without a stain of grass and dirt on you, or watching that goldfish gliding gently in the aquarium or just simply having that favourite ice-cream which made your day?

Simple joys are such a rare thing nowadays.

Sometimes, we are in such a hurry to reach some place that we neglect the beauty and grace of the universe around us. Yes, life is a journey but a journey consists of a collection of moments and in the end, the only thing that matters is how graceful and magical are those moments.
